Cyber Attack - May 2023

Last weekend, TourDesk was the target of a minor cyber attack. This is the reason we experienced a service outage for a couple of hours on Sunday and Monday. This is as well the reason for the POS issues some affiliates experienced on Tuesday.

The reason TourDesk was targeted was most likely due to an external event taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland next week. The Icelandic Computer Emergency Response Team, CERT-IS, has now notified Icelandic companies and businesses about the potential increase in cyber attacks due to this event.

The attack last weekend was quickly detected by members of our DEV team, Ada and Luis, who promptly took action to contain the threat. We immediately investigated to identify the source of the attack and we have implemented additional security measures to protect our platform and our users further. We also want to emphasize that no customer data was compromised during the attack. Note that some of the measures we’ve taken might affect TourDesk’s performance in the short run.

We have not experienced such an incident before and want to assure you that we have taken every precaution to prevent it from happening again.

If you notice any strange behavior in the system or if something seems to be not working properly, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team at info@tourdesk.io
